I think we all can agree, coming up with a self care routine during these crazy times has become a must. From trying to do my own nails, eyebrows, and hair, I can confidently tell you that I have failed miserably at all three of these things. However, one thing that I did right during this pandemic is test out microneedling.
What is Microneedling, Anyways?
Microneedling is an innovative skin treatment using a micro-needling pen to treat everything from acne scars, stretch marks, pore size, and fine lines. I don’t know about you, but I’ve always struggled with pore size and acne scars when it comes to my face. So, when I saw that this pen could minimize pore size, treat my scars, and give me glowing skin like Tracee Ellis Ross, I said why not? Let’s give it a try.
How To Use:
Due to this pen creating tiny injuries in the skin, I always let my it soak in 70 percent isopropyl alcohol before use. The longer you let it soak, the better. But I would say a minimum of 5 minutes will get the job done if you’re impatient.
Afterwards, I move to washing my face. Choose your favorite face wash, mine is our Superfood AHA/BHA Exfoliating Cleanser. Make sure your face is completely clean, and then use the 70% isopropyl alcohol to gently wipe your face. I decided to use my Botanical Soothing Toner, because alcohol dries my skin out really bad.
Next, is the fun part. Microneedling! You’re going to want to divide your face into four sections. What I found easiest is to focus on your forehead, cheeks, and chin. Roll over each section for 15 seconds in an up and down, side to side, diagonally left up to right, and diagonally right up to left pattern.
Last but not least, apply your serum. I’ve noticed that my moisturizers have been more effective after microneedling, because it helps to penetrate deeper into my skin. I would suggest using our High Potency CBD Oil. It’s jam packed with essential fatty acids and vitamins to nourish skin and visibly reduce fine lines, wrinkles & rough texture, and target multiple triggers of aging. Afterwards, rinse your face with water and pat your skin dry with a clean towel.
Always make sure to clean your microneedle again after use. The same exact routine before applying. You don’t want to take the risk of getting an infection.
It takes a few months to really notice a difference in your skin when Microneedling, but it is well worth it. Be consistent! I’ve noticed that my skin is radiant, my scars have started to fade, and my skin tone is becoming even. For the best results, I microneedle every other day and purchase a new pen after about 10 uses (needles dull)
